Gluten Free Halloween Candy
The goal for today was to bring you the top five gluten free Halloween candy lists from around the web. There are a ton out there! Simply Googling gluten free candy brings up a huge amount of information. Wading through it all to find what you need can be quite the undertaking.
Some of the available gluten free candy lists offer brand names, some offer links to websites, some offer no real information at all. Most of the lists available offer outdated information and leave questions as to what the updates could be.
Like I said, the goal was the top five. After doing some wading of my own, I’ve come to realize that all you need is two!
Without further ado, I proudly give you the top two candy lists for Halloween 2009 (in no particular order).
Sure Foods Living offers a gluten free Halloween candy list that is both recent and very detailed. The publication date is October 6, 2009. That’s the most recent of the lists I found. This list also provides easy referencing for the other top seven allergens, making it easy to find treats for every dietary restriction you have.
Alison, the author of the list has also gone to the trouble of including statements from manufacturers where applicable. This list is so great that it would have been the only full recommended on for this year, except that I also found this:
A downloadable PDF list that is made to send to school with your child, brought to us by CeliacCentral.org. This list has everything, from snacks to school supplies to proper care and caution. It is made to personalize for your child and be kept on file for the teacher’s easy reference.
This all purpose list is more geared toward going back to school in general than directly at holidays. Halloween presents the perfect time to print this off and give it to your child’s teacher, just in time for the first of the big celebrations.
I know I promised just two, but I always like to give a little extra. For the organic, gluten free and dairy free appetites this Halloween, you can also check out the short list at Gluten Free Fox. There are no major brands here, just suggestions for the healthier side of candy munching.
As usual, there has to be a warning attached to always check labels before eating anything, candy included. Also, make sure that while you are sorting the candy from the Trick or Treat haul, you check those wrappers for possible contamination risks!
