Making Tracks for Celiac

Are you sitting at home right now wishing you could make a difference? Are you wondering what you can do to increase Celiac Awareness and have some fun at the same time? Are you beginning to wonder if this is not so much an article, but an advertisement :)
The thing is, I wonder these things all the time. I wonder how I can make a difference in my community, and my world. I, like most of you, have limited resources. My time and money are both pretty well tied up in the business of day to day living. When it comes down to it, though, there is a lot of truth to the saying, “Every little bit helps”. Today, we are going to talk about Making Tracks for Celiacs, which is an opportunity for all of us to get involved. Whether you can do a little, or a lot, all of it will help.
Making Tracks for Celiacs is a Walk/Run sponsored by The Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland. It is an annual event designed to raise funds and awareness for Celiac Disease. The best thing about this event is that no matter where you live, or what your situation is, YOU can help!
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but CFCR has to raise all of their own funds. This means that the future of Celiac Research is in our hands. It’s kind of cool if you think about it, we have a lot to do with how much gets to be known about this disease.
Making Tracks for Celiacs is one of the major ways that the fund raising is done. People can go to the site and register to participate in the Walk/Run, make a donation or sponsor and individual or team that is registered in the Walk/Run. Easy, huh?
To me, it seems like the most fun would be in participating. You could gather a group of friends and make a team, or join a team and make some new friends. Each participant gets their own web page that they can use to gather donations and keep people aware of their progress. There are a lot of walks scheduled so far, check this list to see if you can join one near you:
