Product Review: Ian’s Gluten Free Fish Sticks

Posted by: Marissa on Nov. 17, 2010

Let me just start this review by stating that I don’t eat fish. I make it my personal mission to avoid anything that comes out of the ocean, with two exceptions: Canned tuna and fish sticks. Not just any fish sticks will do, though, they have to be the kind that are made with minced fish and heavily breaded. This is exactly the kind of fish stick that Ian’s offers.

I’m really excited about finding these. As picky as I am about my fish sticks I can’t just grab a fish fillet and bread my own. Thanks to Ian’s, I had my first fish stick in over two years :)

Ian’s gluten free fish sticks come out of the oven with a crispy outer breaded and a soft inside. The flavor is great, not too fishy and very flavorful. The breading is not over-powering in flavor, but not bland either. They are geared toward the tastes of children, but any adult that likes fish sticks will like them too. I was very pleased with the overall quality of this product.

I’m not too thrilled about the cost, however. There are eight fish sticks in each box, and the box will cost around five dollars (depending on where you buy them.) Based on this I can say that I will buy them again (I mean, they’re fish sticks!) but not often enough to keep the freezer stocked.

Ian’s Gluten Free Fish Sticks are very allergy friendly as well. The box is clearly labeled as being gluten free, wheat free, milk free, casein free, egg free, nut free and soy free.
