Product Review: Tomato and Basil Crispbreads
It’s back to snack for the review of the day, well, sort of. Tomato and Basil Crispbreads are a combination snack and cracker with a bit of dinner bread rolled in. They are very unique in both flavor and texture. On first bite, I really was not pleased with this product. On the second bite it was better and by the third, I was munching away.
I love the texture, which is thick, chewy, crispy and light all at the same time. The flavor threw me a bit. The first taste that hit my tongue was bitter. It was the basil flavor, which is pretty potent and not sweet basil. Following that is a hint of tangy tomato and the flavor of the crispbread itself.
After trying them myself while working, I served the gluten free crispbread with our soup for dinner. My daughter had the exact same reaction to them that I did. She recoiled a bit on the first bite and said, “Oh, that’s interesting.” Then she took a second bite and said, “I love the texture with the soup.”
The thing I like the most about these Tomato and Basil Crispbreads is the nutrition factor. They are incredibly low in fat (0.5g per serving) and have no sugar. This is very rare in the gluten free snack world, as we all know. They are also vegetarian and GMO free.
Though I have seen many mixed reactions to this gluten free product, I do recommend that you give them a test run. The package is fairly large and comes at a good price. The crispbread is pretty versatile in it’s uses and adds a whole new flavor profile to any dish.
