Product Review: Kinnikinnick Blueberry Muffins
Blueberry muffins are a nostalgic food for me. We always had a mix on hand when I was a kid and we ate them with dinner at least once a week. When I got pregnant with my daughter, blueberry muffins were one of the foods I craved the most. I kept to the family eating habits as an adult and always had muffin mixes in my pantry to make at a moments notice - until I went gluten free, that is.
Now I still buy blueberry muffins occasionally, but I haven’t found any that could match the taste and texture of fresh baked muffins.
Kinnikinnick Blueberry Muffins are good, but I can’t say I will make a regular habit of buying them - I am too much of a texture snob. They have a very firm, dense texture that is not very muffin like. The blueberries are not juicy at all. In fact, most of them are a bit chewy which makes me think they may have been dried before being made into muffins.
The flavor of the muffins is great, though. They are lightly sweet and have a pleasant aftertaste. The flavor made them a good addition to my morning coffee.
One thing I was very happy about was the price. These muffins come in a six pack and ring in at under a dollar each. This is not very common for gluten free muffins so I count it as a bonus.
Overall, I have to leave this as a mixed review. Great flavor, not so great texture. If you are in the market for an affordable muffin with a dense texture, then these are for you.
