Product Review: Schar Classic White Bread
I’m branching out again. After I tried Udi’s bread I kind of shied away from other gluten free bread because I loved it so much. This week when my hubby brought me some Schar Classic White Bread, I was a bit hesitant. I’ve had so many… interesting experiences with dry, funny tasting bread.
I was pretty happy after taking the plunge and trying this bread. I had to use a crow bar to get the package open, but the bread was nice and fresh when I finally succeeded in breaking through the security measures :)
Schar Classic White Bread has a very soft crust and a moist, dense crumb. The texture reminded me of a dry pound cake. It is a bit too dense to use for cold sandwiches. (I’m afraid it would be hard to balance the bread-to-toppings ratio) It would make excellent garlic bread or croutons, however.
The bread has a mild sourdough flavor that is quite tasty. My Daughter’s first thought was that she wanted to toast it and put honey on it. I have to agree with her, the flavors would blend very well.
Overall, I am very happy with this product. It is helping to restore my faith in the future of gluten free bread.
