Product Review: Foods Alive Onion Garlic Organic Flax Crackers

Posted by: Marissa on Feb. 17, 2011

Today I got to experience something completely different. I am all about natural snacks and living healthy, though not always very disciplined about it. So on a visit to one of the local health food shops here in town I saw these flax crackers and decided to try them.

As far as snacks go, these are about as good (nutritionally) as it gets. They are 100% organic. The ingredients list is only five items long - Golden flaxseed, tomato, onion, garlic and Celtic sea salt. The flaxseeds are lightly dehydrated, making them qualify as live food. The other bonus is that with a list like this, these crackers are free of just about every allergen out there.

On opening the bag I got hit with a very unhappy smell. I wasn’t sure I wanted to eat the crackers after smelling them… But I did.

Foods Alive Onion Garlic Organic Flax Crackers are like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. The flaxseeds are silky smooth in texture. You can taste every bit of the onion, garlic and tomato flavor. The crackers are light, crispy and satisfying. (And very filling! Watch those portion sizes.)

Thing is, I can’t really decide if I like them. I know it’s strange, but maybe you know the feeling. The germinated flaxseeds TASTE alive. They remind me of when I was sprouting raw peanuts for a science project and ate one on a dare. They just taste….green.

Take that green flavor and add strong onion garlic and tomato to it. You can see how this is a very interesting mix.

Really, though, these crackers are perfect for anyone looking to add a nutritional boost to their snacking.
