Product Review: Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
Back today with another cake mix review. I promise you, I have eaten more in the last month than cake and cookies. The reviews just don’t show it :)
Today, I bring you Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t fond of this mix. It is inexpensive and very easy to find since I don’t have to go to the health food section for it. It is in the baking isle next to all of the other Betty Crocker cake mixes.
Though I am fond of it, I can’t claim it as my absolute favorite. When it comes to gluten free yellow cake, there hasn’t been one yet that I loved that much.
This cake mix has an amazing texture. It is moist, tender, springy and fun to eat. The downside is that the perfect texture is probably due to the full stick of butter used to make it.
The flavor of the mix is good - slightly buttery. I would eat it frosted or unfrosted. I was disappointed, though. I think I expected a little too much from a cake guru like Betty. This mix carries the same odd gluten free flavor that I have found with every other yellow cake mix I’ve tried. I can say that the odd flavor is subdued enough that frosting covers it nicely.
If you are looking for a moist gluten free yellow cake with a perfect cake texture then this is a good mix to try.
