Product Review: Wild Alice Bar
Way back in the days before I even knew what gluten was I was a big fan of bars. Not the free nuts and flowing drinks kind, I mean nutrition bars (protein bars, fruit bars, granola bars, you name it.) I have always love the convenience of having a filling snack in such a friendly little package.
On the gluten free side there are not as many options when it comes to bars. Most of the ones out there are off limits. The options we do have are great, but usually fall into two categories - fruit and nut or grains. It is hard to find bars that cover the middle ground that the gluten filled protein bars do.
That’s why I am super pleased with Wild Alice Bars. I do believe I have found that middle ground. When I first received the bars from “Wild Alice” herself to try I figured I would be eating a bar that fit into that sweet and tangy fruit category. I was wrong!
Upon taking a bite of the apricot cashew bar I was struck with the complexity of flavors. It is sweet and fruity, but those are not the primary flavors. There is a mild sweetness in this bar that I have never found in a fruit bar. I love it! The flavors were perfectly balanced and very good.
The texture was even better. The entire bar was smooth and chewy. There was no gritty or grainy texture at all. There are also no clumps or chunks. I can honestly say that the entire eating experience was worth repeating.
Unfortunately, this is a case of getting what you pay for. Depending on where you buy them, Wild Alice Bars will run you between two and three dollars each. They are worth the money if you have it to spend. The portions are just right for snacking on the go.
Wild Alice Bars are gluten free, vegan and made from real food. They come with my full recommendation.
