Product Review: Nana’s No Gluten Chocolate Crunch Cookie

Posted by: Marissa on April 26, 2011

The review for today takes us back into the world of cookies. This is not just any cookie, though, it is an ultimo cookie weighing in at 3.5 ounces. This cookie is sold all by itself and it’s big enough to kill any snack craving.

Besides sporting a very attractive “No Gluten” as part of the logo, the wrapper also promises that this cookie has: no eggs, no dairy and no refined sugar. It is sweetened with fruit juice and made with all natural ingredients.

Nana’s No Gluten Chocolate Crunch Cookie seems to have more to offer than just a pretty package. It is a deep brown chocolate color with speckles of puffed rice throughout.

The flavor fulfills the promise of the deep chocolate color. It is rich and full. There is a flavor in the background that almost reminds me of cake batter. It is mildly sweet - enough to make the sweet tooth happy, but not enough to make it ache.

The texture is completely unique. Somehow they have managed to make a cookie that is chewy to bite into but melts away into powder in your mouth. It is interesting to say the least. It is not gritty at all, just very fine powder.

Overall, this cookie got a mixed review in my household. I liked the deep flavor and interesting texture. My daughter did not. She said it was just not what a chocolate cookie should be (though she didn’t elaborate beyond that). I do think that a cookie this unique needs to be tried at least once.
