Product Review: Snyder’s of Hanover Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks
I heard a rumor through the grapevine awhile back that Snyder’s of Hanover had a line of gluten free pretzels. I was excited to try them since Snyder’s of Hanover has quite a reputation in the pretzel world. Alas, I couldn’t find them anywhere… Until last weekend.
It was perfect timing for me. One of my favorite snacks is sliced honey turkey and pretzels. I was away from home, puppy-sitting for the weekend so I grabbed the pretzels, turkey and a good book to keep me company. I was set :)
The first thing that really caught my attention about these pretzels was the bag they came in. It felt different and crinkled different. I looked on the back and found that the bag is made from plant-based materials. This means that it is better for the world - Gotta love that!
Aside from being green, the package was very convenient. I found that this new material folds up easily and stays folded, no need for chip clips.
The pretzels inside this miracle bag were pretty satisfying as well. They were very crisp (almost hard) and had a great flavor. They had just the right amount of salt for me, though it will probably not be enough for the salt-lovers.
Here is where my “taste test” gets a bit strange. The pretzels made my teeth feel funny. It felt like they were squeaky clean yet covered in a fine layer of silt at the same time. Even though I complained about the feeling to my husband I just couldn’t stop eating them, a fact which he found very funny. They were just so crunchy munchy!
In the end, I can offer my recommendation for Snyder’s of Hanover Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks even though I may not go out of my way to buy them again. If I were handed a bag I would certainly not turn them down. I would love to hear any thoughts you may have on the mouth-feel of these pretzels.
