Product Review: Nana’s Lemon Cookie Bites
I love the fact that Nana’s makes cookies in all different sizes. Sometimes you need a big cookie, it’s true, but other times you just need a little sweetness. It does seem that calling these cookie bites is a bit misleading, though. These cookies are about an ounce each - what I would call “normal” sized.
Each box has five individually wrapped cookies in it. I love this because it means there is less of a time limit to eat them. They are so soft that they may not pack well in lunches, but they will stay fresh until you are ready to eat them.
The lemon flavor in the cookies is sweet and tangy. It is a soft lemon, nothing sour or overpowering. There is a bitter flavor to the cookies that lingers in the aftertaste. It is the type of bitterness that you would get if you over-zested a lemon and got some rind in the mix.
The texture of Nana’s Lemon Cookie Bites is a lot like the texture of Nana’s Chocolate Crunch Cookies. They are very moist and soft. When you first bite into it the texture is cake-like. That soft cakey texture quickly dissolves into an almost powdery consistency. The cookies are not gritty, in fact the texture is not unpleasant at all, just very unusual.
These cookies would be perfect to serve with tea or coffee. They have a little something extra in the texture that will make them blend very well with any hot beverage.
