Product Review: Applegate Farms Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets

Of all the things I had to sacrifice to start a gluten free diet, the thing I missed most was convenience. This was a great thing for my health - not so great for the times when my schedule was so busy that cooking was not an easy option. I’m not quite the junk-foodie that I used to be, but I still like to seek out the convenience foods that will make those busy nights easier.

Applegate Farms Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets rank high on that convenience scale. They are pre-cooked and ready to heat. You have the choice of cooking them in the oven or microwave. We all know how I love options!

I prepared my nuggets in the oven. The breading stayed soft, but not soggy at all. The chicken is formed into nugget shapes so they are pretty uniform in size and texture.

The nuggets tasted good. The breading was flavorful and had a nice aftertaste. The only problem I had was that I don’t like the taste of re-heated chicken. It always has a strange flavor to me. My family, who is less particular than me, thought the nuggets were great.

Overall, I will buy these again, but not for myself. My daughter loved them and has asked that we keep some on hand for her. I can honestly recommend them for anyone who is not as picky about the re-heated meat thing as I am.
