Product Review: Blue Diamond Nut Chips (Sour Cream and Chives)
On Tuesday I posted my review for the Sea Salt flavored Blue Diamond Nut Chips. I really enjoyed them and was even more excited to try the Sour Cream and Chive flavor. I thought that they would be a whole new height in flavor. I think I learned today that I am becoming a bit of a naturalist. There was a whole new flavor, but I can’t really rave about a new height...
Ease of Use
This category seems a bit silly when it comes to chips :) Crunch and munch, my friends.
Appearance
These chips are golden brown triangles with rounded corners. There is a good amount of white flavor-powder evenly spread over them. There are also flecks of green (nice and evenly spread). They bring to mind the perfect picture of what sour cream and chive flavor should look like.
Taste and Texture
The texture of these nut chips is wonderful. Just like the sea salt flavor, they are light, crispy and finely textured.
The flavor left a little to be desired. It was mild, but sharp at the same time. There was none of the tang that I look for with sour cream flavor. The other thing I noticed was that the flavor powder covered the natural richness of the chips themselves. Very little of the almond taste ever reached my tongue.
Versatility
Due to the sour cream and onion flavor I would say that the versatility of these chips is a bit limited. I really enjoyed snacking on them but I think blending them into recipes would be challenging.
Overall Value
You can have 4.5 oz. for around $2. Depending on your snack habits one bag could last anywhere from and hour to a day. If you have a growing child in the house, count on them disappearing before you finish reading this review.
Rating
I liked these chips a lot, but I think I will stick to the sea salt flavor from here on out.
