The Beginning of my Gluten Free Life

Posted by: brennaohair on Jan. 31, 2011

In the later months of 2009 I started having symptoms of life altering problems. Including depression, anxiety, itchy skin that kept me from sleeping, major digestive issues, mood swings, weight loss, and an overall feeling of weakness throughout my entire body. I've dealt with having an autoimmune thyroid since I was 17 and it felt like my thyroid was off, so I went to the doctor. She put me on depression and anxiety medication and sent me home. I wasn't convinced that was my problem. So I did my own research.

I bought a few thyroid books about Hashimoto's, and started reading. It was very apparent that I needed to get tested for Celiac. But, my doctor wasn't convinced. So I decided to try the gluten free diet on my own. I kept a journal, and began a 2 week trial.

Eventually, I found a new doctor who would test me and it came back positive. Plus I had an endoscopy done. Now I am doing much better.

I've decided to share my journal from my two week trial on my blog. Because I know there are many people out their who either went through the trama I did, or are going through it now.
