Super Bowl Food...more than just hot wings!
I realized after my last post that not everyone is going to love and crave hot wings as much as some of us. My daughter is one of the ones with a milder taste pallet. She doesn’t want anything to be spicy, so hot wings are not on her list of “must haves” when it comes to a party.
So, in honor of all of you who crave a milder flavor at your party, I’ll give you a few ideas to get you started if you are lost for ideas. :)
You could serve chips and salsa or something simple like that, but come on it’s supposed to be a party, right? While chips and salsa may be on the menu, for sure, why not step out a bit and have some fun with it? After all...we are planning a party!
How about some crab stuffed mushrooms? Sound too hard? No way, they couldn’t be easier. The hardest part will be waiting for them to cool enough to eat, then there is always the part about waiting for the guests to arrive.
Artichoke dip is always a favorite. It looks like an involved recipe when you present the finished product, but it is really very easy to whip up. Your guests will love every last bite of it, I know mine always do!
A favorite in our house is spicy bean dip, even my spice fearing daughter will gobble this one up in no time. You can easily adjust the heat level in this by substituting some of the pepper jack cheese for just plain old jack cheese. Super easy to mix up and everyone will enjoy it.
Kielbasa is one of my kids favorite treats. If you are careful to read labels, you can easily find one that is gluten-free. The sauce on these bites of sausage is amazing. Whiskey kielbasa is always one of the first requests at any snack devouring party in my house.
Crackers and smoked cheese or any cheese for that matter, are always a hit. These onion crackers are so super easy and extremely tasty, your guests will not even guess they are gluten-free. Try them with a seasoned cream cheese, add a bit of roasted garlic, herbs or whatever flavor you want to softened cream cheese for a punch of flavor on these already tasty crackers.
A large platter of tex-mex dip is always a favorite as well. This crowd pleaser will keep them coming back for more, so have lot of chips on hand to scoop up every last bite of this layered dip.
One of the easiest snacks to serve at any party is popcorn. So many flavors you can add to it, or just have it with butter and salt. Sure to please and a very inexpensive addition to your menu.
Above all else, have fun and stay safe! Enjoy the game and enjoy the food most of all. Your team may not win, or it just might, but you can count on good food to get you through to the last touch down!
