Christmas Sugar Cookies safe

Melt-in-your-mouth sugar cookie recipe.

These are delicious whether dressed simply with a sprinkling of colored sugar or frosted with icing.

Cooking time 35 minutes
Servings 16 - 24


3 cups gluten free flour (see notes*)
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp almond (or flavoring of your choice)
1 cup margarine

*Note 1 – The recipe author makes her own gluten free flour by combining 2/3 part garfava bean flour, 1/2 part sorghum flour, 1 part cornstarch, 1 part tapioca flour.

*Note 2 – You can also make your own gluten free flour by combining 4 cups rice flour, 4 cups bean flour, 4 cups potato starch, 2 cups tapioca flour, and 7 tsp guar gum.


1 – Sift flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

2 – Cut in margarine.

3 – Beat eggs; add sugar and almond; mix well.

4 – Pour egg mixture into flour mixture and mix well by hand.

5 – Chill at least 15 minutes (several days is also ok).

6 – Roll out to desired thickness on floured surface and cut into shapes.

7 – Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes.

Optional – Decorate with colored sugar before baking, or if you prefer, after baked and cooled frost and then sprinkle with colored sugar, etc.
