You won't buy soup in the can once you try this one.
It's super easy to make your own tomato soup at home. Well worth the few extra minutes it takes to make this tasty soup.
|Prep time||10 minutes|
|Cooking time||10 minutes|
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons olive oil
46 ounces 100% Tomato Juice
1 1/2 teaspoons Robbie’s All Natural & Guilt Free Garlic Sauce
3 Tablespoons sugar, to taste
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt to taste
2 Tablespoons butter, or non dairy alternative
1/4 cup rice flour, or as needed to make a thick roux (or whatever flour you prefer)
3 cups milk (rice, almond, soy, hemp, cow or goats milk)
In a large sauce pan over medium heat, cook the chopped onion in olive oil until soft. Add tomato juice, garlic sauce, sugar, onion powder and salt.
In a small sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter. Once melted, add flour and whisk together to form a thick roux. It may not take all 1/4 cup of the flour, or it may take more depending. The goal is to have a nice thick roux. Cook the roux for a few minutes then add 2 cups of the milk and stir until thickened.
Once thick, add the milk mixture to the soup and stir in the last cup of milk. Stir to incorporate the milk mixture and additional milk into the soup. Once heated through it’s ready to serve.
