Ketchup safe

An easy alternative to the store bought ketchup that often contains corn syrup.

It's so easy to whip up this ketchup to have on hand for your back yard grilling needs. Works great in any recipe that calls for ketchup. So inexpensive and takes minutes to prepare. Keeps well in your refrigerator, up to 2 months.

Ingredients

1 5 1/2 ounce can tomato paste
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (or to taste)
1 pinch cloves (to taste)
1 pinch allspice (to taste)

Instructions

In a jar or bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. Taste as you add ingredients to suit your taste. Want to add a bit of heat? Add a bit of hot sauce to taste.

    I used this to make the BBQ sauce recipe here on Gling, it turned out really thick once it cooled. So tasty!
